Summer Session Classes
Grades: SK-6 (grade of child in Fall 2009) Come join Edgars Legzdins for some soccer fun. Edgars will teach boys and girls the “ins and outs” of soccer. Individual skill training is enhanced through sportsmanship and teamwork concepts. Edgars has been playing soccer all his life, including club and overseas teams, as well as coaching soccer on the high school level. Edgars has trained U8, U9 and U13 boys and girls teams with the Pegasus Soccer Club in Deerfield and the Northbrook FC soccer club. Shin guards are recommended for this class. Grades: JK-8 (grade of child in Fall 2009) Come dance with us in all kinds of new ways! Have fun each week when you learn an exciting brand new dance from the great dancers of Thodos Dance Chicago. From jazzing it up on Broadway to ballet, you can hip-hop one week and pirouette into the next. Each week is dedicated to learning a different and fun dance to show off at the end of the day. Grades: JK-8 (grade of child in Fall 2009) Learn the classic Japanese Olympic sport as we teach it with a modern twist. Our supportive staff will help you develop self-confidence, self-discipline, coordination, and agility. Taught by Sensei Brett Wolf. Tuesday 4:30-5:30pm Grades: JK-8
Grades: SK-8 (grade of child in Fall 2009) This action-packed class features the secret arts and awesome techniques of Taekwondo, a Korean martial art. An Olympic sport utilizing blocks, kicks, and punches, Taekwondo also develops control and self-discipline. Taught by Grand Master Kidd. Wednesday 4:30-5:30pm Grades: SK-8
Ages: 8-12 Please note, fencing class runs 5 weeks from June 22 to August 1; there will be no class the week of July 6-12. This class will provide a great introduction to fencing and a forum for more advanced training. We’ll make this class fun as well as educational. Taught by Tsanko Hantov and Windy City Fencing. Tsanko Hantov competed in the 2000 Olympic Games and won a Bronze medal at the 2001 World Cup (England) in the Modern Pentathlon. Tsanko was a National Senior Champion in 1998 and a National Junior Champion in 1995 and 1996 men’s epee in Bulgaria. Tsanko has coached fencing for more than seven years, and has extensive experience training fencers at all levels. Tsanko has been the head coach at Windy City Fencing since 2005. He is a graduate of the National Sports Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria and is now the owner of Windy City Fencing, Inc. Master cool openings, mid-games (with all the pins), double attacks, endgames and other fun things…even a bughouse and a tournament! Taught by Chess Wizards experts. Ages: 18 months-5 years Lil’ Kickers is a non-competitive, introductory soccer and movement skills program for boys and girls ages 18 months to five years. In Lil’ Kickers we don’t just teach soccer to kids, but use soccer to teach kids about teamwork and cooperation. Lil’ Kickers is the ultimate child development program.
