Musical Theatre

Dance technique, improv and drama, vocal technique, and performance/auditioning skills are the focus of this session.  Students work in a close-knit group to create individual and collaborative numbers, perform, go on field trips, and professionally record their own cd.  For the serious musical theatre nut!  Jazz shoes required. Taught by Amy Ewaldt.

The Lake Forest Children’s Theatre Company Performance Program Presents: The Sound of Music The Lake Forest Children’s Theatre Company Program is a fun and entertaining way for students to learn discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and dedication. The Children’s Theatre sparks imagination and trains children to think creatively and intuitively. Classes improve communication skills, self-esteem and respect for others and encourage students to explore their own creative voices. Most of all, the Children’s Theatre inspires a love for the performing arts. Performance dates are to be announced. Kids will have their first chance to perform on stage. All children involved in this program will attend weekly rehearsals to learn songs, dances and scenes. This class includes theater games, activities and more. Each child who is enrolled will receive a part in the show. Children will be given a practice cassette tape and script for personal practice. Our highly accredited instructors will direct the children. Children must be able to attend the first day of class for “auditions” of parts. We will not accept anyone after the first day of class. Absences must be limited to two class sessions in order to participate. There will be a performance on the weekend of May 4-6; time and location to be announced--this date is subject to change.

Youth Ensemble  - register online


Ages: 11-18

Students in this class will be given the extraordinary opportunity to perform in a professional setting alongside the talented dancers of Thodos Dance Chicago before a large, educated dance audience.  A piece will be created for this group by one of the choreographers of Thodos Dance Chicago. Each week consists of a ballet technique class taught by Ballet Mistress Jessica Miller Tomlinson and rehearsal led by Youth Ensemble Artistic Director Christine Marie Rhode.  Students are required to  enroll in Ballet III in order to participate.  Every effort will be made to replicate a professional dance environment.
